For the 16th consecutive year, Desta PLC proudly sponsored CampVenture Africa, a unique initiative that bridges cultures and fosters connections between Ethiopian children adopted and raised in the USA and their country of origin. From June 10-24, 2024, this year’s camp unfolded in the vibrant cities of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Nairobi, Kenya, under the inspiring motto “CampVenture Africa 2024.”
CampVenture Africa is more than just an adventure—it’s a journey of discovery and belonging. At Desta PLC, we believe in the power of heritage and cultural connection, which is why this sponsorship remains one of our main Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. The camp offers adopted children the opportunity to immerse themselves in their Ethiopian roots, learning about the culture, traditions, and history that are part of their identity. Through this experience, they strengthen their bond with their heritage, enriching their understanding of where they come from.
This year’s camp was particularly special, as it spanned two countries, offering participants a diverse and enriching experience. In Addis Ababa and Nairobi, the children and their families engaged in cultural activities, workshops, and excursions designed to deepen their connection to their Ethiopian and African heritage. The smiles, the stories shared, and the friendships forged during these two weeks were a testament to the camp’s profound impact.
